Big Bang 2018 Report

The glorious British weather didn’t let us down this weekend with a scorcher of a Big Bang, with blue skies and brilliant sunshine that festival vibe was well and truly in the air – we hope there aren’t too many burnt Big Bangers out there and that you had a fantastic weekend here with us at Santa Pod Raceway!

Throughout the weekend there was plenty of action both on and off the track to keep us entertained. Area In-between Youth Group provided the kids with weird and wonderful workshops to get involved with; for those who were brave enough, we got to meet Dexter the Dinosaur and his trusty Dino Wranglers; Cool Flo BMX brought their team of outstanding Pro riders showcasing demos whilst Podzilla, our resident Monster Truck alongside The Bastouil Chaix Drift Beetle wowed the crowds over in the Live Action Arena!

Friday night in the marquee showcased Big Bang’s dance night with Kiss FM’s Jason P providing some banging beats for you all to party to. Over in Fuelers Bar, the brilliant and energetic Skamungas took us on a journey from the Jamaican roots of Ska through to the Madness era we all know and love. You hope you all enjoyed skanking along!

The Show Paddock on Saturday hosted the Rust & Rat competition. We saw an awesome array of styles and designs on display. This competition is always tough as it can prove to be instinctive and abstract. However, after many turns around the paddock, I’m sure you’ll agree, the winners were as follows:

Congratulations to all the team!

We hope you all enjoyed the Doorslammers portion of this weekend! For all the exhilarating track action form the weekend please visit www.thedoorslammers.co.uk.

Fuelers Bar hosted the Pinball Competitions over the weekend; winner and Big Bang competition extraordinaire, Rio, walked away with the trophy - well played!

A big thank you to everyone who came to Fuelers Bar to take part in the Big Bang Bring & Buy Auction. You will be pleased to know we raised a fantastic £500 for the charity, Francesca’s Research Fund (Non Hogkins Lymphoma) – well done!
Bringing a heavy dose of flame and thunder to Big Bang, Oklahoma Willy, Reign of Fire and FireForce 3 provided us with a jet jamboree over the weekend as they teared up the raceway reaching unimaginable speeds in the blink of an eye.

Saturday night was quiz night over on Fuelers Bar – with a dance off, inflatable mircophones and prizes galore, Sounds Familiar Music Quiz kicked off the party ready for Neon Valley to hit the stage with classic rock and pop to keep us dancing long into the night. We boogied the night away with Just the Way to Mars – the smash hit Bruno Mars Tribute Show took to the marquee stage on Saturday night with their incredible live band, high energy and sleek moves. What Big Bnag line-up would be complete without the famous Jensen D Groover; ‘The King of Disco’ kept us movin’ and a groovin’ with motown soul and pop classics throughout the weekend.

The Autoglym Show & Shine Competition on Sunday showcased an outstanding congregation of VWs; the show paddock saw all types of pristine and stunning automobiles of all shapes and sizes. Whether you were there to see the ultimate custom car, rare original or restored beauty – this impressive line-up of VWs had something for everyone making judging this year particularly hard!
